Dear Prayer Igniter

“Prayer causes things to happen that would not happen unless you prayed.” John Piper

I was in Pastor Jeff Wells’ office at the beginning of June and Jeff gave me a copy of the book pictured here. Published in 1931. This is a GOT TO READ book! Let me share what God has been doing since I’ve been praying with a new scriptural focus, encouraged by Dr. Ole’s writing.

A prayer I regularly pray and encourage you to pray often too is the disciple’s simple prayer:
“Lord, teach us to pray!” Reading this book in
it self, is one answer to that very prayer, as the Lord has taught me to pray in new life bringing ways through reading this book!

I quote from Ole Hallesby’s book:

“Prayer is the most important work in the Kingdom of God. One area of our Christian work where prayer is the only instrumentality, which can be employed, is the Prayer for Laborers/Workers!

Luke 10:2 These were His instructions to them: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.

Our first task is to get the laborers whom The Lord desires for the various tasks in the vineyard. Let us particularly notice that this should be done by means of prayer!

Colin: I challenge you as a reader of IGNITE. If you are thinking, I’m not a pastor I do not have a vineyard to shepherd! That is a lie from the pit of hell! The fact that you are reading IGNITE means you have a vineyard, as a parent it’s your children, work in the marketplace that is your vineyard, a teacher, it’s your kids, retired it’s your friends. Get it?

Colin Millar - Pray Now!

OK back to Hallesby.

No doubt many believers have not paid much attention to this part of our prayer work. We pray for those who have entered into Christian work. We pray also perhaps for those who are preparing to enter some kind of Christian work. But most of us have not reached the point where we pray for those who, as yet, are neither in the work, nor preparing for it, but for whom the Lord has some definite work in mind. The words of Jesus, which we state here, tell us that God does not call and send forth these workers into the harvest WITHOUT OUR PRAYER!

Praying for Laborers with
Pastor Dre Brug

God is making my prayers for laborers very specific. Let’s PRAY NOW:
“Father God in heaven we praise You that You are the Lord of the Harvest! Father we ask You in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ to:

  • Call forth 10 new and anointed preachers from each of our congregations. Lord God we ask You to:
  • Call forth 100 anointed evangelists from every generation in our community Lord God. We ask You to:
  • Call forth 10 new strong believing and bold teachers in each of our schools. We ask You Lord to:
  • Call forth 5 new Kingdom builders in every business in our community, thank You Lord. We celebrate with and thank You in advance for this massive new intake of laborers into the harvest fields. Lord God please continue to teach us to pray, in Jesus name we pray, amen.”

An exciting growth is happening at our Pastor’s Prayer Time, where high school students are joining us at 7:30am on Sundays. Now that is God at work!
