TAKEN TIME TO ABIDE LATELY?
Rev 3:20 And I will dine with
him and he with Me
I introduced myself to my waitress, Josette and she asked: “So what are you doing in Galveston?” You know how sometimes when you are on a specific God-mission you think: “Oh but I don’t want to say what I’m really doing here!” but this time the Holy Spirit led me to say:” “I’m here on a 3 day solo retreat with the Lord.” Josette’s face lit up with radiant expectancy, and she seemed fascinated by the fact that I had come away just to be with our Lord Jesus.
She began to talk about this Jesus who she was just getting to know. She had never been to church growing up and had just recently started attending after a friend had invited her to go. Josette welcomed a brief prayer for her family as I thanked God for my breakfast and this wonderful discussion about Jesus.
A little later McKeilah, the front of house hostess asks Josette if she too can join our conversation? She said as she walked up to the table also just beaming with joy: “When I heard the name Jesus, I just had to come over to your table.”
Once again the Lord just protected our space in the still rather empty restaurant. I got to pray for McKeilah and she too was just getting to know a little about Jesus. Over the next thirty minutes in between serving and coming back and forth to my table they both heard and understood the full gospel message of salvation.
First McKeilah and then shortly afterwards Josette prayed with me fully surrendering their lives into the Lordship of our King Jesus Christ
BLOWN AWAY BY GOD’S GRACE
Josette took my credit card with the check as I continued a little reading at my table. I could not really concentrate being so filled with the joy of Jesus and His work of salvation in these two precious lives!
Well Josette comes back gives me my credit card and says: “McKeilah took care of your bill as she is so thankful that God brought you here today!”
Oh my goodness, they would not let me argue with them, but was able to leave a handsome tip as I greeted them thank you and goodbye.
WHAT DID GOD TEACH ME?
Through these two precious new daughters of the King, God showed me what it means to be falling in love with Jesus. It is fresh, exciting and we can experience this every day.
I think this quotation from Kathy Troccoli wonderfully encourages us toward absolute abandonment to our victorious Lord.
"Do you know the secret of overcoming a hundred sins in your life? Of having an inextinguishable joy- no matter the circumstances? It is a secret most believers have missed. The secret lies not in ten steps, and not in approaching the Bible as a self-improvement guide, but in being deeply in love with Jesus, so that your desire is to be completely abandoned to Him and receive whatever He has for you. Those who learn to relate to Jesus as the Love of their life, on a moment to moment basis, have a vitality surpassing that of most believers and a freedom from sin that once imprisoned them."
Would you first read this prayer and then I dare you to PRAY NOW:
“Lord God in heaven, thank You for saving Josette and McKeilah, grow them in You every day dear Lord. Lord, I commit to be bold in walking and sharing the joy of Your Son Jesus. Open the eyes of my heart to the hope of Your calling in every situation. Speak to me in a way that I will hear Your voice and then give me the boldness and joy to do what I hear You say! In Jesus name I pray amen.”
